IDAHO'S MIDDLE FORK OF THE SALMON RIVER

Whitewater rafting vacations in Idaho are an experience people never forget. We offer rafting trips on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. This spectacular white water river is the Salmon's largest tributary and the crown jewel of the Wild and Scenic River System. This crystal clear free-flowing river is spring fed from high alpine meadows. The upper reaches of the Middle Fork River drainage drops rapidly through thickly forested alpine settings, then, aided by dozens of tributaries, it soon doubles in size becoming a rushing whitewater river with major rapids. As dense forest greenery gives way, the Middle Fork canyon alternates between grassy mountain meadows and sheer granite cliffs. During July, August and September, fly-fishing the Middle Fork of the Salmon is truly a world-class experience. This river is a blue ribbon "wild" cutthroat trout fishery.
We specialize in guided whitewater rafting vacations and our experienced professionals will guide you along every step of your river trip. Early in the summer season you’ll experience some of the most thrilling whitewater available anywhere. Middle Fork River trips range from 3 to 6 days in length. During the higher water of June, we are often able to combine both the Middle Fork of the Salmon river trips and the Main Salmon river trips. The amount of time necessary to do both of these wilderness rivers vary, depending on water flows. Please call for current scheduling.
While it is possible to join a Mackay Wilderness River Trips Middle Fork rafting vacation at the last minute, most of our guests book their trips 4 to 6 months in advance. Because we have a limited number of seats available on each launch, we recommend making your reservations as early as possible to ensure your preferred vacation time.
